Summary of Julie
Julie is the sequel
of the award-winning book of Julie of the Wolves. The whole book
is about how Julie lives with her biological father that she found after
her long journey across the Alaskan tundra. Miyax (Julie's Eskimo name)
also deals with the fact that her own father kills her beloved adopted
father, Amoraq. Along with this, she must deal with her "gussak" stepmother.
Also Kapugen, Miyax's father, is willing to kill any of the wolves that
threatened the village industry, the rasing of musk ox. In order to protect
the wolf pack she had lived with, she must go back on the tundra to lead
Kapu and the wolf pack away. Aside from these drawbacks, Julie meets and
falls in love with a Siberian Eskimo who also believes in ancient culture.
I believe
from a ranking of 1 to 10, 10 being the highest, that this book would be
around a 6. The reason for this is because the beginning and end of the
book is really boring. In the middle which the climax of the book is, happens
to be very interesting. Jean Craighead George uses very distinctive words
to set the setting. I really recommend the book to readers who have read
Julie of the Wolves and have a lot of time on their hands.
